Local automotive major Tata Engines Friday delivered 60 Ultra urban electric buses to Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) which will operate on the Ahmedabad Rapid Bus Transport System (BRTS) corridor. Tata Motors will also put in place the charging infrastructure and support systems necessary to keep the 24-seater 9/9 electric buses running smoothly, the company said in a statement.
The Bus Tata Ultra Urban 9/9 AC were reported by Chief Minister of Gujarat Bhupendra Patel from the Sabarmati River Front Event Center in Ahmedabad, he said. These zero-emission buses were provided under the FAME II initiative on the basis of a gross cost contract (GCC) with AJL, the company said.

Tata Motors had sacked orders in October 2019 to supply 300 electric buses of the AJL. Tata Ultra Urban 9/9 AC electric buses are powered by fully electric transmissions with their spacious interiors featuring lavish interior lighting and can be customized according to application and regulations, he said.
Designed to provide a fatigue-free driving experience without clutching or shifting, the electric buses are also equipped with a regenerative braking system, next-generation telematics and a high-level Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). security to deliver smooth and efficient operations.
According to the statement, the new buses to AJL will serve the new developing areas of the city of Ahmedabad and the new airport route. It will provide a comfortable travel experience for passengers and zero-emission mobility for all residents of Ahmedabad, the statement said.
According to the company, it has so far supplied more than 600 electric buses to several cities in India, which have traveled a total of more than 20 million kilometers.
