Air Products’ $ 1.3 Billion Hydrogen Energy Complex Awarded at Chemical Week | News

First unveiled in June (2021), the $ 1.3 billion hydrogen project is expected to showcase hydrogen as a key tool for Canada to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In addition, plans set the stage for Air Products to be at the heart of one of the most competitive markets.

The industrial gas giant was one of six companies to be recognized at the 2021 Chemical Week Sustainability Awards. Those who entered the award for best carbon management initiative were judged by a panel of industry and sustainability experts.

Speaking at Chemical Week, Seifi Ghasemi, Chairman and CEO of Air Products, said, “We have made huge investments to help build the hydrogen economy.

“By being a pioneer in world-class projects, such as our net zero energy complex in Alberta, we are paving the way for a cleaner, more sustainable future and accelerating the energy transition. “

Rachel Smith, Vice President of Air Products Canada, added, “Air Products is honored to be recognized by Chemical Week with the Best Carbon Stewardship Initiative award for its new net zero hydrogen energy complex in Alberta, in Canada.

“This historic facility is expected to achieve net zero emissions through advanced technology, carbon capture and storage, and hydrogen power generation.”
